EDITOR'S NOTE
I was having dinner with Mike Lim the other day and during the course of the conversation the idea to start a Desaru Surf Newsletter came up. So I thought, why not? In it will be the latest gossips, mumbo-jumbos, happenings, announcements of surftrips, classifieds, etc for the surf community so we get in touch with what's happening with one another. I know some of you are going to stone me for this. Unfortunately the majority has voted for it.
So here it comes.

OLD SKOOL LONG BOARDER DECIDES TO QUIT
Mike Lim, our old hand at longboard has decided to quit surfing. "I will concentrate on my career and mountain biking this whole year." When asked why, he quipped, "I am tired and sick to keep losing the people close to me because I have no career and no money". Well good luck to you Mike!

ANDI'S CAR NICKED AT GOLF POINT
Last Friday's surf at golf point was the "you should've been there" kind of surf. Perfect, clean, 2-4 feet, hollow, and just like stuffs that dreams are made of, it was a windless day with some slight off shore. It was to be everyone's happy day until at 6:40 pm, stoked after such good surf, Andi walked back to his car. To his horror, he found the car window smashed up. "All my valuables are gone! My mobile, everything! It costs me $1000!!!" said the understandably upset Andi. We figure that no monkey is smart enough to have committed this crime.

IAN FAINTED AFTER TAKING SLIMMING PILLS
Our Ian, whom we know dearly as "white boy", fainted after taking slimming pills he took from his wife. He and several friends were cycling towards their regular spot for their routine mountain biking at bukit timah early one morning when, after a mere 10 minutes Ian felt faint, slumped over his bike and proceeded to fall off it. Friends were alarmed as he lied on his back, breaking into cold sweat profusely and breaking his Arnette sunglasses too...

FORMER ROXY GOLD TEAM MEMBER WON GOLD
Kyoko, the former member of Gold Roxy Surf/Skate team has won gold medal for her team... in a dragon boat championship. She was involved in the Australian team and has trained tirelessly for the past months, sacrificing weekends to surf. Unfortunately, none of the Desaru surf crew took heed of her achievement. "She might as well quit surfing and join the boat paddling team forever" said one source refused to be named.

SURF TRIPS NOTICE
Some of the boys are already up in Cherating waiting for the big surf hitting the east coast this coming weekend. Mike Lim is secretly planning his own trip up as he is not supposed to be seen surfing this year. Meanwhile, one lucky member is surfing the Hawaiian coast at this very moment.
